Day 2 - The Super Mini-Tour of Complaint and Affection…

When Tierney and I had gone on our first tour of considerable length with Vostok in ‘06-ish, we’d precariously rigged up an old timey tv to play XBOX (Gen1, kids) games while on the road (well, primarily Madden, cause we were a manly bunch). If we’d had the foresight to do something similar this time around, there’s a good chance we’d have seen a whole lot of this screen today…
You and your friends are dead

For those with crummier childhoods than our own (and who were all about their friends and selves living), this was the death screen for Friday the 13th on Nintendo. So instead of running around 8-bit Crystal Lake all day, we decided we’d just go ahead and play another show on this tour. This time we ended up in Athens at the Caledonia Lounge…
    Caledonia

…where everyone knows you have to first go sideways to go down. Upon arrival, we were given the keys to the green room; a considerably swanky airstream out back with a TV, Fridge, WIFI, and the essential VHS collection (Fletch/From Dusk Till Dawn/Jurassic Park etc.). It was almost enough to make us forget that we still had to set up and make a show happen.
    Green Room

Next tour will be all airstream green rooms without all the music playing nonsense. Five Eight were apparently intent on keeping us out of the airstream as well, distracting/dazing us with their perpetual musical wizardry. It was only after they’d finished that we’d realized their cunning. If ever there were a band worth missing out on quality airstream time, though, it’s Five Eight. And not too be all super into ourselves or anything, but I’m pretty sure the crowd was really digging on all my computer difficulties as well. We don’t do that for just everyone, Athens.

Tomorrow, we run this tour into the ground (literally) at the downstairs section of Star Bar in Atlanta. We’re told that only the lame-O-s hang around upstairs. Looking forward to making fun of those dopes with the cool kids who really get sub-terrestrial cohabitation.
